abstract = "The geographic perspective of landscape ecology is related to the
study of anthropic influence on landscape and territorial
management. Landscape ecology studies should not be performed with
the pure and simple analysis of the structure, but with the search
for the causes and effects of spatial patterns of landscape
physiognomy, considering them as dynamic systems. For landscape
research, from the aspect of the relationship between nature and
society, Geography has adopted the geosystemic model. Based on
this geographic perspective of landscape, the aim of this research
is to map and characterize the geosystems of APA Fern{\~a}o Dias.
The regionalization was based on the empirical knowledge of the
study area and on the construction of the cartographic base,
composed by hypsometry, hydrography, lithology, of the road system
and of land use and cover maps. With the operational support of
GIS, remote sensing and fieldwork, the geosystems map was
developed according to the APA relief compartmentalization. The
APA regionalization is composed by four geosystems, subdivided
into 21 geofacies. These landscape units, that were characterized
according to their natural elements and current trends in land use
and cover, are denominated: Corredor da Rodovia Fern{\~a}o Dias,
Corredor Sapuca{\'{\i}}-Mirim-Parais{\'o}polis, Bordas do
Planalto do Alto Jaguari and Altos da Terra Fria. The systemic
model adopted allowed the integrated analysis of the physical and
biotic resources based on detailed fieldworks and cartographic
modeling of real landscape.",
